Deputy President William Ruto on Friday called for speedy
investigations into the murder of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei who worked at his
Harambee Annex office.
Ruto said the DCI should reveal Kenei’s killers and the
motive, not leaving out the manner he was killed.
The DP termed recent actions by media houses regarding the case as distortions that are aimed at tarnishing people’s reputations.
“The truth MUST be found on WHY, HOW,and WHO killed Sgt
kenei. The family, ODP,and Kenyans want the TRUTH & JUSTICE and culprits
held to account.

“The drama, distortions, convenient half-truths and the
smear campaigns in sponsored headlines amounts to criminal cover up,” said the
DP through a tweet.
On Thursday, DCI boss George Kinoti ruled out suicide in the
case saying Kenei was murdered in cold blood.
Kinoti went ahead to demonstrate how the officer was killed
saying a gun must have been put under his chin as the bullet exited just near
his forehead.
While briefing the press, Kinoti also shared footage of
activities at the DP’s office days before Kenei was killed although many
questioned how it was helpful to the case.
In the footage, Kenei was seen handing over his phone to a ‘General’
as he appeared to be getting orders from elsewhere.
He was also seen escorting one of the suspects in the fire
arms scandal before exiting via the backdoor of the DP’s office.
Kinoti further revealed that the deceased was set to record
a statement with the DCI prior to his death and had even made efforts to
contact a colleague to enquire how he would go about the activity.
Moments after contacting his colleague, his phone went off
and this raised eyebrows.
He failed to report to work the following day and was later found dead in hi Imara Daima home.
