President Uhuru Kenyatta has made it clear that he will not support anyone in the 2022 Presidential election.
While speaking during a tour of Nyandarua County to inspect projects, the Head of State said that anyone vying for the top seat will have to put in effort.
“Anyone vying in the 2022 elections will fight for their space and should not expect me to support them," he remarked.
President Kenyatta also asked leaders to focus on development rather than politics since it what the people want.

“Let’s stop politics and focus on development because that is what our people need. I came here to see myself whether the people in this region had been connected to the national grid as alleged by the people I had sent here.
“But those houses there, why are they not yet connected? I will not be sending people anymore, I will come by myself,” he said.
President Kenyatta also emphasized the need for Kenyans to unite and live together in harmony, saying no development will be realised without peace.
He urged leaders to stop engaging in politics at the expense of serving the people who elected them.
“We know Kenya is a democracy and we hold elections at every five years but now is time to serve the people and not to concentrate on advancing personal interests at the expense of the welfare of Kenyans,” the President said.
In recent days, leaders allied to DP William Ruto have put pressure on the President to honour his word and support the DP in the next election but it seems he is slowly moving away from that.
On his part, Ruto has played cool in the midst of the betrayal talk, often saying that he is keen to help the President deliver the promises he made to Kenyans before being elected.
