Body of man who jumped into Indian Ocean at Likoni ferry yet to be found

Body of the man who jumped into the Indian Ocean after boarding the MV Harambee at Likoni Ferry is yet to be found.

According to Kenya Ferry, the middle aged man, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was dressed in a white top and black pants.

The man is said to have left his seat at around midnight on Saturday 23 November and jumped into the ocean by running to the back of the MV Harambee.

“At around 0130hrs an unidentified male passenger went overboard MV. Harambee from mainland to the island side. Our rescue efforts bore no fruit. The search of the body is still on,” said Kenya Ferry.

Witnesses say the man appeared to be mentally disturbed at the time of the incident.

Kenya Ferry sent their sympathies to the affected family as they continue with the search for the body.

Less than two weeks ago, an identified man was also recused from drowning at the Likoni Ferry.

The Kenya Ferry management says the man seemed mentally ill as he ran straight and dived into the water but struggled to swim.

Fortunately, the man was rescued by the emergency team and was administered first aid before they rushed him to the Coast General Hospital for further medical attention.

“Our rescue team using our emergency speed boat rushed to the scene and rescued him. He was given first aid and rushed by the Police to the Coast General Hospital for medical attention,” stated Kenya ferry.
