The Kenya Railways on Tuesday announced that the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Phase 2A will be operational from October 17, 2019, and had some good news for Ngong and Rongai residents.
Starting Thursday, there will be a train from Ngong to Nairobi and passengers in Economy Class will pay Sh100 while their counterparts in First Class will pay Sh200.
According to the schedule seen by Ureport, the departure time from Ngong will be 5.40am and arrival at Rongai will be 5.53am.
The train will then wait for four minutes before proceeding to the Nairobi terminus where it will arrive at 6.20am.

From there, passengers can connect to the CBD in roughly 15minutes.
Another train will leave the Nairobi terminus at 10am through Rongai and will get to Ngong at 10.40am.
Kenyans online, however, had an issue with the schedule and demanded a proper explanation:

Was this thought through? Who is it targeting? Nairobi SGR terminal is in Syokimau so it's basically moving Rongai/Ngong folks to Syokimau - then what? Jioni the Rongai fellow takes a ma3 from town to Syokimau to board the 6:30pm train home? #somehumansarelimited— WPK (@WPK11) October 16, 2019
Question is: Will it end in Nairobi Central station at CBD or Nairobi terminus in Syokimau? Clarification please— Tommy kibet (@Tommykibet) October 15, 2019
