Raila Junior on Friday jumped to the defense of his mum Ida Odinga after a netizen questioned her presence at the launch of Creative Hubs in Migori County.
One Twitter user said that Ida has no clue about innovation hubs and should not have been invited to the function.
“Is there anything that Ida contributed? Does she even know what is an innovation hub?
“Just popping up on hijacking anything done by others…come up with your own and let the community know it’s your contribution,” wrote the netizen.

This did not go down well with her son Raila Junior who swiftly responded by saying Ida is an accomplished female leader whose presence would encourage young girls.
“Pardon you @joekul123 but Mrs Odinga #notyouragemate was invited as a female leader, the organizers felt that her presence would encourage you girls to take up interest in ICT.
“Unless you have a problem with females in that role as well!” he wrote.
Raila Jr’s sentiments were echoed by Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi who described Ida as a global educationalist.
“Mama Ida Odinga is a globally respected educationist, who has taught, developed many professionals in various fields.
“Besides being an icon on gender matters, she continues to mentor many. She is a powerful resource. To question her, is the height of naivety n foolishness,” said the legislator.
