A Moi University medicine student was hacked to death on Tuesday April 9 at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Ivy Wangeci, a sixth year student, was attacked by an unknown man using a hand axe outside the Moi University School of Medicine wing.
The attacker, who is alleged to be the boyfriend hit Wangeci on the head with the axe and tried to escape.

He was however caught by boda boda operators and set on fire. The attacker sustained serious burn injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the MTRH.
Moi University VC Isaac Kosgei confirmed the incident and said that Ivy died after she was rushed to the MTRH.
“It is a very sad day for us. This morning we lost one of us to an attack by an unknown assailant. We are working with the security forces to piece together what happened and we will update you in time…I want to request all of you to remain calm,” he said.
Motive of the attacker is yet to be established.
