The county government has launched an ambitious programme to provide all primary school pupils with free school uniform. Yesterday, Governor Francis Kimemia launched the programme at Mutonyora Primary School in Kinangop.
More than 20,000 pupils will benefit from the programme.
The first phase is set to benefit some 12,000 pupils and will be completed before the end of this financial year.
According to Mr Kimemia, the most vulnerable schools in the county will be given priority. "We want to give a new face to our school-going children so they can even have the morale to go to school," he said.
He, at the same time, maintained that the county government, in conjunction with the New KCC, would continue with the free milk programme, which is meant to benefit some 23,000 nursery school children.
