Despite losing his father in a road accident just a day after the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination started on November 6, former Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru’s son Mugambi Mwenda has scored a B+.
Mugambi, who sat his exam at Alliance High School student, overcame the tragedy to post the excellent results.
He lost his father on the second day of his exams. Ordinarily, the school would have waited until he cleared the examination before informing him of his father's death.
However, the seniority of his father and the attention that followed his death meant that the news could not be kept from him.
Incidentally, one of his last moments with his father was with a group of his classmates from Alliance who Gakuru hosted at his residence in Runda for a pep talk.
