Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar left
tongues wagging after his move to Jubilee Party. The former Wiper Democratic
Party Secretary General on Sunday 8 October revealed how a phone call from
Deputy President William Ruto wooed him to the Jubilee Party.
“Hakuna mwana NASA alininipigia, hakuna
principal alinipigia. Mtu wa kwanza kunipigia simu tarahe 11, because I have
always had a personal relationship with him, siasa zetu sio tafauti. Akaniambia
my friend usife moyo … This is the beginning of the journey- After my loss to
Joho in August, no NASA principal called me to check up on me or even to
encourage me… But on August 11, the Deputy President William Ruto called me. He
encouraged me to take positives from the loss. He made me think about who my
true friends are. Raila will always come here and look away as high taxes
imposed on Mombasa people. When businessmen struggle to get permits, he never
talks about it,” said Hassam Omar.
“I have petitioned the case and I’m certain of winning. There will be a repeat election in Mombasa as well and I am ready to work with Suleiman Shabbal in ensuring that we win the seat duiring the by-election,” he continued.
The former Mombasa Senator also went ahead and revealed that NASA got less the one million signatures in the August 8 election and that the Independent Electoral and boundaries Commission told them the signatures were forgery.
