Award-winning country music singer Don Williams has passed on aged 78.
According to Kirt Webster, his publicist, Don died on Friday 8th September 2017 after a short illness.
Before he retired in 2016, he had already made 17 number one hits, love ballads like ‘I Believe in You’.
Don Williams mentored major country music artist like Keith Urban, Josh Turner and Joe Nichols – his smooth sound being the focal point of his music.
He used to tell a story in every music track and gently delivered hits making him earn the nickname – ‘The Gentle Giant.’

He spent most of his time at his farm west of Nashville and did few media interviews during his time.
His hits included: 'Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good, and ““I Believe in You,”“ Back in My Younger Days," 'You're My Best Friend," and ‘'Some Broken Hearts Never Mend."
In the year 1978, Don won the Best Male Vocalist award in the County Music Association’s Awards.
He will be greatly missed.
