Gospel singer Jimmy Gait on Friday spoke about an innocent move that landed him in trouble and made him feel so low.
Speaking during a TV interview Jimmy Gait said that he was shocked when he came under attack from the public when he released the ‘Yesu ndio sponsor song’.
According to him the song came with a lot of emotion which personally affected him. This came at a time when he had lost a lot and he felt that by writing the song it will encourage him because Jesus was his sponsor and He was going to give him all he needed in life.
When he was asked why he wrote such a song he said that it was a very innocent move that he took because he took the word sponsor from the dictionary and not from Kenyans context.
Gait further said that term sponsor was corrupted by Kenyans and given the meaning of a sugar daddy or mommy who use money to exploit the young for sex in exchange for material things.

In addition, Gait said his music is all about real life situations and how people respond to them and when he did that he was mistaken.
“People forgot about all the good songs I had done for close to nine years and started insulting me saying all sort of things. It was difficult for me because I am human.Just one song made Kenyans think that I am trash,” said Gait.
Also, Jimmy Gait said that sometimes people don’t understand the pain musicians go through just to produce a song.According to him, people think that musician are immune to cyber bullying but according to him, they get hurt.
He also said that he will not be defined by what people say about him but what God about him. This is the reason why he said he will give the love of God to those who said what they said. All he was to do was to share the love of God with them.
The gospel artist said that it was through that trying moment that he met his biggest turnover in life.He said it was through a TV interview that somebody came by and gave him a business breakthrough that transformed him completely.
People thought that Jimmy Gait had stopped being a gospel artist and became a trending artist. He said as a public sometimes people praise you, and other times they lash at you and what you need to do is stay focus. You have to focus on your purpose and know who you are in Christ.
