Silver Palm Spa & Resort opened its doors to the public two years ago and went on to be classified as a four-star hotel- the only one of its kind in Kilifi town.

This luxury boutique hotel lies in a secluded area in Bofa taking up 5 acres with a breathtaking view of the Indian Ocean. Its location offers a stunning turquoise blue ocean view, direct beach access and has 38 rooms.

Its sophisticated house designs reflect modern contemporary and Swahili influences with great attention to detail, making the place feel like paradise.

''As one of Kenya's latest additions to the coast, we pride ourselves in the uniqueness of the property. Each of the luxurious rooms offers stunning views of the ocean and all the ground floor suites provide direct pool access from the beautiful bougainvillaea enclosed verandas,” says the resort manager, Michael Otieno.

However, it is its amazing Barizi Spa that makes one spoilt for choices. It has been described as an epitome of luxury to rejuvenate one’s senses!

Otieno explains that since Health and wellness tourism has been identified as one of the fastest-growing travel segments and the most lucrative, they have taken a keen interest in trying to tap into wellness tourism and capture market share.

According to 2018 Global Wellness Tourism Economy report, International wellness tourists on average spent sh154, 131 ($1,528) per trip, 53 percent more than the typical international tourist, while domestic wellness tourists spend sh61, 430 ($609) per trip, 178 percent more than an average domestic tourist.

Growing need for stress-relief is attributed to the high demand for local tourism and hospitality industry players now capitalize heavily on wellness tourism.

The local and global wellness tourism market in the region has risen due to disposable incomes, attributed to the rapid growth of economies and higher income levels which have shifted the trend toward increased discretionary spending, particularly on wellness goods and services.

“The influence of wellness has become a new reality due to long or extraordinary working hours and the upward trend of unusual work schedules like in the evenings at night or weekend. This is a perfect recipe for a considerably strained workforce and their families,” Otieno states further.

The Barizi Spa with Theranaka and Theravine trained therapists overlook the blue waters and the Indian Ocean surrounded by the beautiful palm trees offering a refreshing cool breeze hence the name Barizi.

In total, there are six different spa treatment rooms.

The spa offers luxurious relaxations experiences and wellness journeys designed to reconnect with one’s inner being in an oasis of serenity that reflects the soul of Africa.

It is worthy to note that travelling for wellness has become notable within the tourism industry, accounting for about 6 percent.

Wellness travel entails individuals driven by an intense interest in quality of life using wellness vacation to gain peace of mind, reclaim work and life balance to jump-start a healthier way of living.

''Our clientele base is increasing by the day. We have guests from around and within, others fly in from overseas and across the common border just to come and partake in our Barizi Spa offerings,'' Otieno said.

From holistic massages to rejuvenating body wraps, wrinkle-reducing, facials and pampering hair and nail care to celebration packages and couple delights, Barizi Spa is fully dedicated to giving the best spa treatments.

Yoga sessions are also on offer at the resort.

And in a bid to entice meeting and conference planners, Silver Palm Spa & Resort has a conference facility of up to 150 people with separate 30 persons and 10 person board room style.

Dining is at the Forodhani beach restaurant and bar. Wood-fired pizzas and Tapenyaki grill make the dining experience a real adventure here.

Buffet services are at the Mambrui dining room with Bustani lounge bar offering the best places to relax and sip that favourite drink.
