A court pardoned a 27-year-old man charged with stealing three Bibles from a local supermarket.
The accused confessed in court that he wanted to sell the items so that he could feed his starving siblings.
He told the court that he is an orphan, and lost his job last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“My siblings who are underage need my help. They need to eat and a place to sleep. All this burden falls on my shoulder. I was forced to steal to buy them food. I plead for forgiveness,” he told the court.
Police records indicate the supermarket’s management spotted the accused picking the items and stashing them inside his jacket.
