Migori, Kenya: A Member of County Assembly (MCA) from Migori has expressed fears for his life after he survived an attack by unknown people who have also been sending him threatening messages.
Jared Osawa, from South Sakwa Ward, tabled a personal statement before Migori County assembly, saying that he had been receiving a series of threats through text messages, and that he was attacked on his way home on Sunday evening.
"I fear for my life. I don't know whether I will be alive tomorrow. I have been receiving a series of threatening messages and on Sunday, I was attacked by an armed man who physically assaulted me," said Osawa.
He further added, "Were it not for the members of the public who intervened, I could have died. As if that was not enough, the assailant drew a dagger and was ready to strike me."
Osawa said he had taken accident victims to a hospital within the county and was on his way home in company of another MCA.

"We had just ferried some accident victims to a hospital. It was then that an armed man emerged from the bush and started beating me up," he said.
He accused the supporters of former assembly majority leader, who he alleged were not happy with that the assembly passed a motion of no confidence against him.
