Village elders have asked the Government to empower them to fight insecurity in their areas of jurisdiction.
Speaking in a Kakamega hotel when he met elders from different villages, Joseph Kinuthia, a peace ambassador in the country, said it takes individual responsibility to assist security officers.
“We plan to take 47 village elders to Rwanda to learn from 1994 genocide,” he said.
Asha Omar, a village elder from Emulakha, said drug abuse and theft among others torment society.
