Nine-year-old Iqbal Bayusuf was the star focus at the Coast Junior swimming gala at Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa.

Competing for Bandari Swim Club, which is coached by former international Fakry Mansoor, Bayusuf dominated all races he yesterday took part in to win four gold medals.

Bayusuf won the first gold in boys' nine years 100m Individual Medley (IM) in 1:30.08, while Ally Jamal (Nyali Primary), finished second in 1:41.13. Tudor’s Michael Arowo was third in 1:46.07.

In boys' nine years 25m breaststroke, Bayusuf clocked 22.44 for the top position, as Jamal finished second in 23.07 and Michael Arowo third in 23.12.

In 25m butterfly, Bayusuf completed his hat-trick after clocking 19.59 to beat Jamal and Ignatius Ayieko both of Nyali Primary.

Iqbal added his fourth gold in 25m backstroke after timing 21.19.
