A Canadian firm, Garrison Bespoke, has made a bullet proof suit using carbon nanotubes, known for their incredible elastic property which makes them able to withstand a huge kinetic energy load.
From experiments, the suit was found capable of withstanding multiple hits from 9mm bullets. The suit is however not just purely made up of carbon nanotubes but of several layers of materials infused with the nanotubes.
The first fabric layer is designed to repress bullets from going through the suit, the second layer disseminates the impact of the projectile, and the third layer absorbs the impact and helps minimize injury to the wearer. According to the inventors, the bullet proof suit is no different from the ordinary suit in terms of size and design and hence is not as bulky as one may imagine. Each of these bullet proof suits goes for 20,000 Canadian dollars (Sh1.64million).
