Governor Ndiritu Muriithi (above) on Friday held a virtual meeting with his staff since outbreak of coronavirus two months ago.

More than 500 workers of the devolved unit attended the general staff meeting, many from the comfort of their homes.

The general meetings are held on quarterly basis to discuss employee performance and other matters affecting employee welfare.

Ordinarily, Laikipia holds the meetings at the sub-county headquarters in Nanyuki, Nyahururu or Doldol where all senior staff have to be physically present.

A lot goes in the planing of the physical meetings that includes catering for varied expenses of the staff involved.

During the Friday virtual meeting, the county secretary reminded the workers that their performance was being monitored even as they worked from home.

He also asked them to keep their phones on.

The governor has hence instructed all departments to be planning their work through virtual conferences.
