Five people died in a road accident along Kapsabet-Kisumu road on Friday after a speeding matatu veered off the road and rammed into a cliff.
The accident occurred at Chepsangor, Nandi County at around 6: 30 pm and involved a matatu which was ferrying 13 passengers.
One victim succumbed to injuries while he was being taken to the hospital.
According to David Rugut, a witness, the matatu that belongs to Wareng Shuttle was heading to Kisumu when the accident happened.

"The driver was speeding on the busy road and almost hit another vehicle while attempting to overtake another car which was heading to Eldoret," Rugut said.
Tindiret sub-county OCPD Christine Kola confirmed the accident and said that the matatu was being driven along a dangerous route.
"Locals who witnessed the accident rushed to rescue the passengers who were on board shortly before the county ambulance arrived. Four people died on the spot while another one died on the way to the hospital," she said.
She added that seven other people were taken to Nandi Hills County hospital and the county referral hospital for treatment.
