President William Ruto is set to deliver the 2023 State of the Nation address in a joint sitting of Parliament on November 9 at 2:30pm.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula made the announcement on Thursday, October 26 while addressing Members of Parliament.

The sitting will be held at the National Assembly Chambers, Parliament buildings.

Article 132 of the Constitution states that the president should address a special sitting of Parliament once every year and may address Parliament at any other time.

The announcement comes two days after political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi, on his X account, asked the president to tell Kenyans how taxes have been used in the last one year.

"Dear Ruto: Where is the State of the Nation Address to Parliament? After one year, Sir, you have done a lot. But you have not told us what...Speak to us," Ngunyi posted.

At the same time, Wetangula has also announced that the National Assembly will go on a short recess from tomorrow, October 27 and resume on November 7, 2023.
