Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged the Mulembe Nation to demonstrate true patriotism by working with President William Ruto.

Mudavadi argued the Luhya community stood better chance to benefit from Ruto's administration as compared to the previous regimes.

"Let us not blow hot and cold at the same time. We need to assure the president and his government that we are fully behind him and we will support the transformation agenda he has envisaged for this country," he said during a leaders' meeting held at State Lodge in Kakamega on Wednesday.

The meeting that was convened by President Ruto was to mark the culmination of the five-day tour of Western region where the leaders, through their governors, presented development proposals to Ruto.

He said the national cake was in Ruto's hand and it was high time the region realised it in good time.

He was categorical that the parliamentary leadership from the region should keep an eye on the budget-making process to ensure major projects were set in western.

"I encourage leaders to put the interests of the citizens first before self. We need to think about the future of our region, our youth and our development. We must be deliberate and intentional in creating jobs and opportunities for our people.

"Let this meeting be the second 'earthquake', let this be a game changer in the way we articulate and execute our issues and how we address our challenges. Let us rise above petty politics and unnecessary humour and be serious because there is no time to waste," he said.

Mudavadi emphasised that elections were long gone, and nothing can change now and urged the leaders to desist from engaging in petty politics.
