Maa elders on Saturday endorsed the presidential candidature of Raila Odinga, saying the community will be safe in his Azimio la Umoja Movement.

Speaking during a meeting held at Ololulunga in Narok County, the elders said they will back the ODM leader because he stood with the community to ensure Mau Forest was conserved.

The elders also endorsed Narok North MP Moitale ole Kenta to run for Narok governor under the Azimio la Umoja Movement

Maasai Council of Elders Keleina Ole Nchoe said it’s only Raila who would protect the economic interests of the community.

“This is the candidate who loves the Maa community and we will not gamble with our votes,” said Ole Nchoe.

He said, after consultation with all stakeholders in the county, they have decided to join Azimio la Umoja.

“We are in Azimio and we are giving you Ole Kenta officially as a senior leader of Narok County,” he said.

Raila was meeting Narok politicians, professionals and religious leaders during Azimio la Umoja forum.
