Democratic Alliance Party – Kenya (DAP-K) officials yesterday hinted that former Rift Valley County Commissioner George Natembeya could contest the Trans Nzoia governor seat on the party's ticket.
Speaking during the opening of DAP-K offices at Chui House in Nairobi yesterday, party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi said Natembeya would be joining his party.
“George Natembea has announced he is joining DAP-K. We welcome him and we are ready to help him fulfill his ambition to be the next governor for Trans Nzoia,” the Kanduyi MP told party members.
Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, who attended the event, said: "The next governor of Trans Nzoia is on his way. He has called me to say he is on his way. Are you ready to receive him?"
Natembeya resigned yesterday to contest the Trans Nzoia governorship. DAP-K also received defectors from Ford-Kenya including Trans Nzoia senator Michael Mbito and Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch.
“All those joining us can be assured that we will conduct a free and fair nomination,” said Secretary-General Eseli Simiyu.
