The battle for the mountain votes intensified with Deputy President William Ruto taking his campaigns to Kigumo constituency for the first time.
Ruto said churches have supported the government in matters related to the development and social welfare of the country.
Speaking at Ngaburi AIPCA Church, Kigumo, Murang’a, Ruto said he was working towards uniting the country through UDA, as he accused some leaders of playing politics.
He identified AIPCA church as a strong pillar towards nationalism, as having participated in the struggle for independence.

“This church is among the few that played an important role in the struggle for independence, and which has suffered a lot. Then mistakes that were committed will be corrected by the government,” said Ruto.
He said his recent trip to Nyanza region was among his initiative towards uniting the Kenyans.
He was accompanied by Murang’a leaders led by Senator Irungu Kang’ata, MPs Alice Wahome and Ndindi Nyoro. Embakasi North MP James Gakuya also attended.
