Nakuru RFC romped into the finals of the Menengai Oil Great Rift Ten Aside after they stopped stubborn Impala 21-19 in a stormy semi-final match of the Main Cup at Nakuru Athletic Club last evening.

Impala first shocked the homeboys with a try by Paul Omulaka in the initial minutes but took Nakuru few seconds to equalise through Patrick Maina before Calvin Otieno added another one as Martin Mwita made the two conversions.

Otieno added another try to increase the tally before John Ouko and Mike Mugo replied for the losers. Sam Onsomu and Caesar Onyango made their conversions.

Strathmore Leos defeated Western Bulls 22-0 in the second semi-final clash of the Main Cup and were scheduled to meet hosts Nakuru RFC in the finals by our press time.

In the quarters, Nakuru RFC stopped stubborn Mwamba 14-0, Impala dismissed Kenya Harlequins 17-7, Western Bulls hit Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad as Strathmore hit Nairobi University’s Mean Machine 5-0.

In the Plate Competition, Blak Blad were due to meet Mwamba in the finals on Sunday.

Mwamba defeated Harlequins 5-0 in the semis after the match was extended to extra time and the sudden death try by Dan Sikuta was all Mwamba needed to nail the Kenya Cup defending champions.

Earlier, Naelo Asigwa missed a penalty that could have turned some fortunes for Harlequins. On their part, Blak Blad nailed Mean Machine 7-5 in another semis of the Plate Competition.

Dan Somba scored a try for the Kenyatta University students with Anthony Mbugua making the conversion as Ian Were reduced the deficit for Machine in the dying minutes.

Kenya Commercial bank cruised into the Bowl finals after they hit Eldoret RFC 9-5. The bankers were meet Homeboyz in the Bowl finals.

Darwin Mikudza, N Kevin and Kevin Ochieng’ each touched down for the bankers with Martin Mukouma and Fabian Olando making the conversions. Eldoret replied through Erick Ombuchi.

In the Shield Finals, Egerton were to meet United States International University.

Egerton had earlier thumped Multi Media University 7-5 in the semis with Elphas Khadire touching down and Calvin Kiprono making the conversion.
