Meru University College of Science and Technology (MUCST) student Cyprian Nyakundi is pleading with the institution to reconsider its decision to suspend him for one year.
Mr Nyakundi was suspended over what the college terms “tarnishing the university’s image through the social media”.
He appeared before the university disciplinary council on September 18 and decision to suspend him for one year communicated to him on September 25.
Nyakundi admits “‘sharing some opinions’ on Facebook about lack of enough chairs, problem in the cafeteria, inadequate lecture rooms and poor road network and discpline on petty cases” and argues that these were genuine concerns that did not warrant such a punishment.
