Kisumu is set to host the World Talent Conference, the first to be held in Africa.

The event, organised by the World Talent Federation, is set to bring together more than 15,000 delegates from around the globe, including top world and African athletes, footballers, film actors, musicians, and Heads of State.

Dubbed the World Safari Conference, the event slated for August 2025, aims to shine a spotlight on the latest advancements in talent identification and development, offering a unique platform for researchers, educators, psychologists, and other stakeholders to share innovative technologies and methodologies.

The official unveiling ceremony will be Friday at the Kisumu Governor's Office by high-ranking World Talent Federation officials from the USA, including Dr Peter Smith (Vice President), Dennis Chantler (Treasurer), and Dr Victor Langenberg (International Liaison).

"We expect the delegation to be in Kisumu today for the unveiling and confirmation of the hosting rights, a move that continues to elevate the city to international standards," said John Oywa, Chief Officer of Communication of Kisumu County.

Among the technologies to be showcased are the Anthropo-Biometric Methods, capable of predicting the careers of young children and assisting in professional and scientific assessments of talents and gifts.

The choice of Kisumu over Nairobi, following a persuasive presentation by the Kisumu county government led by Governor Anyang Nyong'o, was influenced by the city's rich cultural and natural heritage, which aligns with the conference's theme, "Excellence Without Borders in a Changing World."

This decision, ratified by a unanimous vote from the World Talent Federation's Executive Committee on January 19, 2024, signifies a shift towards recognizing the potential of emerging cities to host global events.

This conference is not just a platform for showcasing talent and innovations; it is an opportunity to foster global connections and share best practices in the field of gifted education.

The event is expected to catalyse significant interest in Kisumu, promoting it as a destination for tourists and professionals.

The World Safari Conference represents a historic occasion, being the 24th World Biennial Conference since the inception of these gatherings in London in 1975 and the first to be hosted in Africa.
