Kisii Governor Simba Arati is yet to release a staff headcount report for the 5,900 staff, more than a month after he launched the exercise.

The exercise was conducted between November 15-18 and 21- 22 at the Kisii Agriculture Training Centre (ATC), all sub-county headquarters and at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH).

Employees were required to present originals and copies of appointment letters, letters for their current positions, National Identity Cards, last three months' pay slips, academic and professional certificates, filled head count questionnaires and coloured passport photo.

Since the exercise was concluded, Critical Infrastructure Police Unit officers have been guarding the ICT offices at ATC where the staff headcount documents have been kept.

Governor Simba Arati observed that he will give out the staff audit report in early December during which he will make public how much money has been lost to the alleged ghost workers.

The one-month period has since elapsed with Governor Arati still insisting that he will release the report soon. He said the report will align employees according to their profession and address alleged irregular job promotions.

"I wish to clarify that the staff audit is not a witchhunt but a deliberate effort towards staff rationalization and proper placement for the sake of results delivery", he said.
