Two elderly men were killed in a grisly road accident in Homa Bay County. The incident which involved a saloon car and a motorbike occurred near Nyamira junction on Oyugis–Kisumu road in Rachuonyo East.
Those who died were a 64-year-old boda boda rider identified as David Ogola and his 73-year-old pillion passenger— Charles Rasugu.
The two were travelling from Ringa market towards Kisumu while the vehicle was also moving towards the same direction.
Kasewe Location Chief Moses Ongere said the incident occurred when the rider was negotiating a corner from the highway towards Miruka trading center in the neighbouring Nyamira County.

The Nyamira junction is considered an accident hotspot.
Residents called on the Chinese company which is constructing the road through Ahero–Isibania road construction programme to erect bumps on the road.
“Lack of pumps on this road has led to many deaths and injuries through accidents. We are appealing to the contractor to erect bumps on this road,” said Caren Otieno, a resident.
Rachuonyo East Sub County police commander Justus Kucha urged residents to observe traffic rules to prevent more accidents in future.
“Let people observe traffic rules and be careful when using roads because that is the only way to prevent road accidents,” said Kucha.
The bodies were moved to Rachuonyo South Sub-county hospital mortuary in Oyugis town.
