A woman was killed by a crocodile in Ralayo beach, Rarieda sub-county on Saturday. Jackline Atieno, 32, was mauled by the crocodile at the lakeshore.
According to her mother Grace Apondi, her daughter had gone to fetch water together with her sister-in-law when the reptile attacked and dragged her into the water.
Elsewhere, the family of a 17-year-old boy who drowned in River Yala six days ago is now appealing for the government to help recover his body.
Caleb Araka, who was a Form Three student at Bishop Abiero Shauri Moyo Secondary School in Kisumu County, drowned in the river near Bar-Okwiri in Bondo sub-county last Monday.
“We have tried to search for the body through the help of residents and local divers but we have not found it,” said Millicent Atieno Okech, the boy’s mother.
