At least ten people have been confirmed dead and several injured in inter-clan clashes in Mandera County.

The county's Chief Officer in charge of Conflict Management Hussein Yussuf said the attacks occurred on different dates this week.

"Most of the victims died on Tuesday, December 20 near the Kenya-Ethiopia border, with some of them losing their lives in the Ethiopian side of the border," Yussuf told The Standard.

In the Kenyan side, the clashes occurred at Banisa area.

Mandera Governor Mohamed Khalif has called for peaceful co-existence among the different clan members, terming the attacks unfortunate.
