Barely a day after popular Tanzanian TV personality, singer and Video Jockey Vanessa Mdee announced her pregnancy, her ex-boyfriend, singer Juma Jux has released a song that seems to congratulate the mother- to- be.

Jux released the slow ballad, titled 'Sina Neno' on Wednesday evening, and the song's cover art showed clearly what the lyrics would be about.

The image portrays a woman embracing her baby bump, a ring clearly on that important finger, all in black and white, while red roses peak from the shadows.

“Mnapendana na pendo liko kasi kasi, mki postiana Instagram Status. Tulishafunika mambo ya zamani yalishapita,” Jux sings.

The Bongo crooner goes on to say that he prays for his ex, wishing her well as she starts her family.

“Sikuchukii nakuombea, maisha mema ya furaha, Mungu aonyeshe njia, silii mimi nimezoea,” Jux sings on the track, insisting that he is happy for Mdee and has accepted that they have both moved on.

The Swahili song does not call Mdee by name, but given the coincidental release right after her pregnancy announcement, fans have been quick to connect the dots and weigh in on the famous exes.

“ Ah Juma, mimi nilijua umesha move on,” popular Bongo singer Ommy Dimpoz commented under Jux’s Instagram post of the song, questioning whether he had ever truly moved on from the 2019 break-up.

“Mimba ya wengine umeitolea wimbo?” posed an Instagram user going by the name Alaine, while popular singer Raynanny commented with appreciative fire emojis.

On YouTube, the song quickly rose to number 16 on trending videos locally, while fans had a field day in the comment section of the video-sharing platform.

Some thought that Jux has not moved on from his ex, while others thought the song was a mature response to the pregnancy news that signified offering an olive branch to Mdee.

“Mwanaume ukiachwa achika. Anyway Jux maisha must continue, earth is hard,” wrote a fan on YouTube, urging the singer to forget about Mdee.

“This song hits so hard. Patience is key, everyone's season will come,” wrote Kayren Mag.

The audio clip garnered 285,000 views in 15 hours.

Mdee and Jux had been together for six years on and off, and had widely been regarded as one of Tanzania’s power couples.

After their split, Mdee met American singer and 'Power' actor Rotimi Akinosho at a music festival, a moment the couple has since described as life changing.

“His heart is so big and his love is so boundless. It’s the type that transforms you. And you honestly want to be the best version of yourself every single day,” Mdee told Essence Magazine late last year, gushing about her fiancé.

Rotimi and Vanessa announced their pregnancy on September 7, releasing breath-taking maternity photos that show the happy couple and the growing baby bump.

The couple got engaged in December 2020.
