President William Ruto is this morning chairing a special Cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi.
The objective of the meeting is to deliberate on mitigation measures for the El Nino rains which have caused havoc in various parts of the country.
This comes amidst reports that at least 70 people have died so far from the effects of the ongoing rains, and over 36,000 households displaced.
On Saturday, the Head of State summoned various government officials from emergency response agencies of the government.
This was in a bid to come up with different intervention measures to enable them to deal with the heavy rains and flooding experienced in different parts of the country.
The heavy rains have caused the destruction of infrastructure mainly roads, and bridges.
