Two Cabinet Secretaries have been locked out of the Performance Contract Signing event at State House, Nairobi for arriving late.
The Standard has established that Interior CS Kithure Kindiki and his Trade counterpart Moses Kuria were left out of the function on Tuesday, August 1.
Other Principal Secretaries and parastatal heads who arrived late were also left out of the event.
Reports also indicate that Council of Governors chairperson Anne Waiguru was also part of the group locked out. Her speech was read by Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka.
In his address, President William Ruto hinted at dismissing State officials who do not observe punctuality.
"If you come late you have basically dismissed yourself. You must have a written explanation that does not include traffic as a reason for lateness," Ruto said.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on the other hand urged the public servants to observe punctuality at all State ceremonies.
"I have never been late for any State function. I was only late once and it is because the president said we meet at 7.30 am and he showed up at 6.30 am," said Gachagua.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi also urged the CSs and Principal Secretaries to plan their schedules properly to avoid similar incidents in the future.
