The Kenya Law, and Swedish organisation ForumCiv, have signed a partnership to promote effective formulation and publication of policies and legislations in counties.

The formulation, focusing on thematic areas of education, public participation, health, youth, environment and climate change, will see first two counties of Narok and Nakuru pilot the project for a period of 36 months.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Martha Koome welcomed partnership, saying it is timely as it seeks to create sustainable solutions on effective policy and legislation formulation anchored on public participation in county governments.

"The overarching expected outcome is to contribute towards effectively formulating public policy and legislation in the selected county governments within the thematic focus areas," said Koome, while speaking virtually during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kenya Law and ForumCiv on Thursday.

"The MoU we are signing with Kenya Law is geared towards strategic collaboration in terms of enhancing effective implementation of laws and policies in this country in national and county levels," said ForumCiv Regional manager for East and Southern Africa, Jackson Obare.
