President William Ruto's Cabinet Secretaries are still struggling to warm their way into Kenyans' hearts as all of them remain below 30 per cent in the approval ratings.

According to polling firm TIFA, the best-performing CS in the Kenya Kwanza administration is Interior's Kithure Kindiki, whose approval rating stands at 26 per cent.

He is followed by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu (10 per cent), Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi (4 per cent), Sports CS Ababu Namwamba (3 per cent) and Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi (3 per cent).

Four CSs tied in the approval rating at 2 per cent each. They are Aden Duale of Defence, Moses Kuria of Trade, Eliud Owalo of ICT and Digital Economy, and Kipchumba Murkomen of Transport.

The survey was conducted between March 11 and March 19, 2023. The respondents, who were 2,065, were randomly selected across Kenya.

The respondents said Kindiki's approval score was highest because he had spearheaded the tackling of crime in the country and exhibited hard work in delivering his mandate as Interior CS.

Education's Machogu, on the other hand, was credited for implementing junior secondary and actualising 100 per cent primary-to-secondary transition.

Media coverage of the CSs also played a role in influencing the respondents' perceptions about the ministers, the report said.
