Normal activities came to a halt in Nairobi's Central Business District for the better part of Monday, March 27, morning.
Busy streets were deserted with just a handful of people walking in the areas. Police officers could also be seen strategically positioned in most parts of the city.
Business premises in the CBD remained closed for fear of incurring losses in case the protests turned chaotic.
By 10:30 am, police attached to the Anti-Riot Unit had blocked the processional way which leads to State House.
