Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has been awarded the best African cargo airport of the year.
In a statement, the Kenya Airports Authority stated that JKIA has been recognised worldwide for its exclusive cargo transit.
"We are proud to share that JKIA has been named the African Cargo Airport of the Year at the STAT Trade Times International Awards for Excellence in Air Cargo," KAA noted.
During the award ceremony held on Wednesday, February 22, in Johannesburg, South Africa, JKIA was praised for its exceptional performance in cargo infrastructure, systems, and services.
In 2021, a report by The Airport Council International, a lobby for airports stated that JKIA handled 363,204 tonnes of cargo, leading other airports in the continent in total cargo traffic.
