Happy New year! Kenyans around the country ushered in the new year in style.

For those in churches, entertainment joints and even at home, all activities were stopped at midnight as people celebrated the new year. Fireworks of varied colours and screams of jubilation filled the air.

President William Ruto joined the rest of Kenyans in ushering in the new year. While giving a speech at State House in Mombasa he acknowledged that Kenyans had faced many challenges in 2022.

He also said that when he came into office, he had to make several bold economic changes to ensure that the country recovers. It included getting rid of subsidies in various sectors that were put n place by the Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration.

"We thank God that Kenya has been able to survive through those challenges and we look forward to a prosperous 2023," said Ruto.
