PRESIDENT WILLIAM RUTO: Once again, it is time for us to celebrate one of Christianity's central events, the beginning of a life that changed the world for all time.
FIRST LADY RACHEL RUTO: As we celebrate the divine gift of our Lord and Saviour, let us also reflect on the deeper significance of His miraculous birth and the lessons in the place and timings of His birth.
PRESIDENT WILLIAM RUTO: It is much more than a stranded expectant couple receiving their little baby in a boma, on a cold night, in a poor village.
FIRST LADY RACHEL RUTO: The humblest of places can produce everlasting greatness and desperate circumstances often are the crucibles in which history is changed.
PRESIDENT WILLIAM RUTO: Our circumstances must never dictate our destiny, and the humbleness of our means can never limit the possibilities of the future.
FIRST LADY RACHEL RUTO: We pray that everyone of us strives to live up to the spirit of this season; peace on earth and goodwill among all people, not just in observance of tradition, but also as a lasting value to direct our lives and work.
PRESIDENT WILLIAM RUTO: Let us look out for each other, give what we can to those in need, share love and spread joy.
FIRST LADY RACHEL RUTO: We also urge you to give this peace, goodwill and love its fullest, purest and highest expression by doing our part to make our shared hope more livable for us and for future generations.
PRESIDENT WILLIAM RUTO: We have a generational obligation to stop environmental destruction, prevent the loss of biodiversity and protect the integrity of the earth's ecosystem.
FIRST LADY RACHEL RUTO: Let us therefore use this blessed season of abundant rain to plant as many tree seedlings as we can, to show that we care for ourselves, humanity and the earth.
PRESIDENT WILLIAM RUTO: May peace reign among all people, and may Almighty God bless you, and your family.
MR AND MRS RUTO: Merry Christmas!
