President William Ruto will address both Houses of Parliament - the National Assembly and the Senate - in a joint sitting on Thursday, September 29.
In a statement published in the newspapers, Speakers of both Houses, Moses Wetangula of the National Assembly and Amason Kingi of the Senate, communicated that President Ruto will be making his inaugural address to Parliament in line with Article 132 (1) (a) of the Constitution.
All the Members of Parliament (MPs) and Senators are expected to attend the sitting that will commence at 2:30pm.
The president's address comes after the lawmakers held a week-long induction at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi (MPs) and at Sawela Lodge in Naivasha (Senators).
At the orientation, the legislators were informed on their roles, state of the economy and diplomacy.
They were also trained on rules and procedures of the House, security, formulation of laws, budget-making process and public finance.
According to Parliament's Standing Orders, the lawmakers must be taken through an induction before formally starting their sittings.
