Police have asked Kenyans thronging the Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani for the inauguration of Dr. William Ruto as the 5th President of Kenya, to follow the proceedings from home.

In a press statement to newsrooms, Police Spokesperson Bruno Shioso said the stadium was filled to capacity by Tuesday, 5am September 13 and the numbers are expected to rise further.

"To avoid logistical challenges, this is to request the public to make alternative arrangements to view the proceedings, especially from the comfort of their homes," Shioso said.

As at 8:20am, police were struggling to control the crowds that were forcing their way into the already filled sports complex.

Scores were injured following a stampede at one of the entrances at the stadium after hundreds of Wananchi bypassed the security manning the gate.

First aiders at the scene managed to rush those injured to awaiting ambulances.
