Most parts of the country will receive increased rainfall in the next seven days, the Meteorological Department has said.
In a general weather forecast, the department said rainfall is expected in the Western, Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin region and the Central and South Rift Valley.
The weatherman also cited a few areas in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya.
The forecast shows that there will be isolated storms and possible flooding over some parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and Northwestern.
In a report released on Monday with a validity of September 6-12, Met Department Director David Gikungu noted that occasional cold and cloudy conditions, at times accompanied by light rains, are expected over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley as well as over some parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Central and South Rift Valley.
North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu Counties) will experience morning rains, afternoon showers, and thunderstorms as well as night showers are likely to occur over a few places, occasionally spreading to several places, during the first half of the forecast period.
Maximum daytime temperatures are likely to be as high as 35 degrees Celcius in Lodwar but may drop to 24 degrees Celcius while in Maralal, night temperatures will reduce to 12 degrees Celsius.
In Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi intermittent cloudiness, at times accompanied by light rains, is expected in the morning.
Afternoon showers are likely to occur in a few places. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy though showers may occur over a few places.
Maximum daytime temperatures are likely not to exceed 29 degrees Celsius in Thika while in Kangema they may be as low as 16 degrees Celcius.
Minimum (night time) temperatures are expected to drop to 07 degrees Celcius.
Northeastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties) days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy.
However, morning rains are likely to occur over a few places in Marsabit County during the first half of the forecast period.
Maximum (daytime) temperatures are likely to rise to 36 degrees Celcius in Mandera while Marsabit may be cooler at about 23 degrees Celcius.
In southeastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties), intermittent cloudiness is expected in the morning giving way to sunny intervals. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy.
Maximum (daytime) temperatures are likely to be as high as 30 degrees Celcius in Makindu but may be as low as 19 degrees Celsius in Ngong.
In Coast (Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties) days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy. Maximum (daytime) temperatures are likely to be about 27 degrees Celcius in Mombasa while in Lamu they may be as high as 30 degrees Celcius.
Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, and the Central and Southern Rift Valley are likely to receive above-average rainfall.
