Political and religious leaders are working with security agencies to ensure peace prevails before and after the August 9 General Election.
The area has in the recent past experienced rising cases of insecurity due to banditry attacks.
In the last eight months, 17 people have been killed, among them seven police officers and hundreds of livestock stolen.
During a meeting in Nanyuki yesterday, the leaders resolved to uphold peace during the campaign period.

“This is a unanimous decision that we have made as religious and political leaders, and representatives of the government. We will not allow politics to divide us,” said Catholic Bishop Joseph Mbatia of Nyahururu.
"We need to live as brothers and sisters with our neighboring communities."
