The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has partnered with the Ministry of Health to offer medical care to officers.
NPSC chairman Eliud Kinuthia said officers who sustained injuries or fell sick in the line of duty will benefit. Kinuthia said they were targeting to assess medical needs of 2,000 officers across the country, adding 400 officers in Eastern and 1,400 others from other regions have already been identified.
A special medical board formed to offer assistance to officers in need has already been established.
Speaking at the Meru Police Station where officers with various degrees of injuries were attended to on Thursday, Kinuthia said the board was keen to offer officers the assistance they need to perform their duties effectively.
