Former Criminal Investigations Officer Bruno Isohi Shioso is the new police spokesman.

Shioso replaces Charles Owino, who has been moved to the Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai announced Tuesday.

According to Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime, Shioso is currently on secondment to the United Nations Police (UNPOL), heading the Serious and Organized Crime Team (SOC).

In 2016, he served as the Criminal Investigations Officers (CCIO) in Mombasa County.

Shioso speacializes in transnational organized crime.

His predecessor Owino was moved to Small Arms and Light Weapons as a Deputy Director, in changes announced on May 8.

The former police spokesperson hinted at a plan to venture into politics.

He said he is competent enough to clinch the Siaya gubernatorial seat in the 2022 General Elections.

Owino spoke in a radio interview on Mayienga FM, owned by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
