Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has urged the government to use skilled graduates to create employment and fight the rate of unemployment in the country.
The MP who spoke at Lord Errol in Runda,Nairobi on Saturday during the graduation ceremony that saw over 200 nurses at Westwick college of health sciences graduating, the legislator faulted the government for exporting skilled labor rather than utilizing them.
He faulted the government for concentrating more on exporting labor than putting on more measures that are aimed at creating more employment.
"I urge the government to utilize skilled and professional labor that arise from our graduates, its bad to export people rather than creating employment," he said.
The youthful MP went on to say that even if the government decides to export 300,000 graduates it will still not address the issue of unemployment adding that the government must have more concentration of job creation in the country than abroad.
He at the same time urged graduates from different educational institutions who are graduating every year to use the skills they gained to create employment and job opportunities.
"I want to challenge you graduands to go out there and use the skills you gained here and create more employment for thousands of youths who are jobless and tarmacking.Be job creators rather than job seekers,"said Salasya.
Westwick college Marketing director Rehema Lyoka said that, the college was proud to have trained various students from all over the globe.
" We intent to open more branches of our colleges across the country in order to give opportunities and chance to students who want to learn health matters,"said Elizabeth
She went on to say that the college had trained several medics who will now help the country address the alarming challenges arising from the health sector.
