Three police officers linked to the mysterious escape of serial child killer Masten Wanjala from police cells on Wednesday, to remain in custody for seven days.
Wanjala was lynched by irate members of the public near his home at Mukhweya village in Bungoma.
Milimani Court Magistrate Jane Kamau also ordered that the three officers can be released on a cash bail of Sh100,000 and report to the investigating officer every day of the seven days. They will be out at 9.00am each day to help with the investigations.
The three Philip Mbithi, Kamakis Mutuma and Precious Mwende were on duty at Jogoo Road Police Station on the day Wanjala escaped from his cell.
The officers had been presented to the court yesterday afternoon under a miscellaneous application where police had requested to hold the suspects for 14 days as they complete investigations into Wanjala’s escape.

The three will be detained at Capitol hill police station until they pay their cash bail and the mention of the case will be on October 22.
