President Uhuru Kenyatta has this morning toured various development projects in Nairobi County including the Green Park Bus Terminus at the Railways Club.
Uhuru who was accompanied by ODM leader Raila Odinga inspected the matatu terminus that was constructed by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, NMS.
During the impromptu tour that caught many unawares, Uhuru and Raila who were dressed casually were taken around the nearly half-finished park that has already been fitted with shades and eats for commuters to sit as they wait for their rides.
Earlier, NMS Director-General Mohammed Badi had indicated that the terminus will be well lit especially at night powered by solar energy to avoid insecurity cases in the area. Badi also revealed that already they are setting up a police station in the environs.
Later on, Uhuru and Raila are expected to launch a Level 2 hospital that will offer medical assistance in cases of emergency considering that the area will be serving close if not more than three thousand passengers per day.

The terminus will be the drop-off and pick-up point for at least 110 matatus plying the Ngong and Lang’ata routes a move aimed at decongesting the Central Business District.
Among those who led the tour were NMS Director of Transport and Public Works Engineer Michael Ochieng who revealed that the construction of the Workshop Road terminus that is located between Workshop next to Neno Evangelism Centre and Bunyala roads with the works set to be complete within a month.
The terminus will accommodate matatus plying the Mombasa Road – South B, South C, Industrial Area, Imara Daima, Kitengela and Athi River routes.
