Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested four people said to have robbed an accountant 50,000 USD (Sh 5,572,500).
The suspects are a police constable, George Onyango- based at Ruiru Police Station in Kiambu County and three staffers at Mitsumi Business Park.
Authorities say the suspects accosted the accountant while inside an elevator as she was heading to deposit the cash in the bank, all armed with pistols.
According to DCI, one of the suspects, Albert Ochola, who is a plumber at Mitsumi Business Park was found with over Sh1 million (10,000 USD) hid at his house in Nairobi’s Huruma estate.
“12,300 USD was also recovered from Walter Kiverenge's house at Kawagware. The staff supervisor had concealed the cash inside a water dispenser,” DCI said.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a foreigner arrested by detectives at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) with over Sh100 million.
“The foreign national who was heading to Dubai from Nigeria was in possession of USD 880,000, 60,000 Euros and 63,000 Naira (Sh98 million, Sh8 million and Sh18 million respectively).
The money was sealed inside black suitcases and is believed to be from International Criminal Cartels.
The High Court has since ordered that the money be deposited at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) pending probe into money laundering.
“To effectively investigate the matter, DCI Transnational Organized Crime Detectives (TOCU) are working with the Asset Recovery Agency (ARA),” DCI added.
